MIXING A PASSION FOR DESIGN AND SKATEBOARDING
In the spring of 2009, I started Mellow Skateboards as a passion project where I could explore my design ideas and creativity outside of my in-house design work. The brand was influenced by graffiti art as well as my love for video games and comics. The skateboards and shirts were sold at a local skate shop in Bradenton, FL and online after launch. The project has since ended, but I’m left with fond memories of connecting with skateboarding fans and learning how to launch a product into the world.
PERSONAL PROJECT
Design, Illustration, Art Direction, Production
I researched and spoke with vendors to learn how to translate the art into the best possible quality prints. I recruited friends to help me take photos and model the products. The skateboards were made in the USA and manufactured by Drifter Skateboards in Atlanta, Georgia. T-shirts were printed by a local clothing company named Clothesline Printing.
